I read an excellent piece recently on the 'Right to Die' debate. The author (I forget who it was) asked the reader to play a mind game. Imagine, he said, that the 'Right to Die' was now legal and had been so for a few years. What arguments would you use to repeal it? When put like that, all the reasons (other than religious - but that is different) seem petifroging and cruel and assume the worst in human nature, legal enforcement and venality.
It was a fascinating insight - and one that works very well on lots of other areas, particularly where personal morality rubs up against the law.
